Northern California/South Lake Tahoe
Northern California

(South Lake Tahoe)

Lake Tahoe is on the stateline between California and Nevada. Most of the Lake is on the California side. Lake Tahoe is a glacier formed lake and is fed by glacier melt as well as well as yearly snow and rain falls. This section of these pages will deal with the California side.

Lake Tahoe is surrounded by the majesty of the northern Sierra Mountains with tall Pine trees surrounding the Lake. Pine cones from some of these trees can stand a foot high. Pine nuts were a staple of some of the indian tribes.

Various segments of the TV series "Bonanza" was filmed near and around parts of the Lake from 1959-1973. Lake Tahoe is a sought after resort for those who enjoy boating, swimming in the summer, and winter sports such as tobogganing, snowmobiling and snow skiing in the winter.
