I am an R.N. and lived in Kansas for over 30 years. I am a gypsy at heart, I spent most of 2004 in California.( pictures below of course). I tried living in southern Arizona, but the summers are brutal. I have finally decided to try travel nursing, and I really enjoyed it. My first assignment was in Salem, Oregon, and of course those pictures are now online. Any nurses out there wanting to try this type of nursing, can find several agencies by doing a search, or you can try the one I went with, World Wide Travel Staffing, the link for that agency is above the general links in the left column and will also be available through my Oregon series of pages. Eric, my recruiter has spent a lot of time keeping what I want in mind. I have also received little gifts from time to time. It is fun to receive an unexpected gift. A couple of times, I received a $2.00 bill. I know, he was just telling me how unique I am, or maybe, how unique World Wide Travel Staffing is?
I spent 4 1/2 months in north western Oregon, and really enjoyed the area and seeing nursing in another State. This is a fantastic way to add some excitement back into a nursing license. I haven't really found the perfect spot to retire in, and travel nursing just might help me find that magic place.
I have three children, and six grandchildren. I have been surfing the internet since late 1996, at first, mostly on AOL. Aol is a very user friendly ISP(internet service provider.)(HINT:You can sign up to aol from my sponsor's page!)
I still use aol and trust it, but for the most part I am now back to using DSL with another internet provider. Downloads are as fast as cable in my opinion.(it does depend some on how much you are willing to pay, and I am NOT! What can I say? I am hooked on high speed!! I will continue to have dialup available as a backup. Broadband, dsl or cable, is at least 4-5 times faster than dial up.
I have done other webpages in the past but to date this is my most involved and longest project. I have been doing these pages now for 8 years, and amazingly I still find something to write about!! My purpose is to share some of my excitement for this newest frontier of cyberspace.
In the left frame you will find some of my choices for best links on the web. There are billions of webpages though, so this is by no means an exhaustive list. Check it often, I am always updating the links and will have a flashing sign to help you find them. I have come across some interesting links in my travels in cyberspace and would like to share them with you.(links frame is constantly being revised and updated) I have been to the "Whitehouse" and into space. Through Real Player, I have watched work being done on the space station in real time. I have also seen some of the most beautiful poetry posted here for all to see, and have seen some funny and some sad stories, and heard of wonderful heroics by people helping those they have never seen.
Since the cowardly terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, I have seen even more people helping those they do not know. I have placed those links in a slightly different place from my usual organization, because of their importance to the world right now.
I have just recently started a project, adding my computers to others, to use as a supercomputer, in order to find and cure some of the ailments afflicting mankind. The Human Genome folding project has been going on for several years and was instrumental in formulating a vaccine for smallpox. IBM has linked up with a laboratory and again starting to utilize spare computer time. I am the captain of one such team at the WCG. You can read more about it from the page I set aside for this in the left frame as well, or from here: Cybernauts We are always recruiting for our team, so if you wish to give some of your computer time to aid humanity, please consider joining my team.
Some of the links I use to have, have expired or address's have changed, so dear reader, explore, and see what you can find for yourself!! It will be a fascinating journey, I promise! (links in the left frame are a good place to start!) (Shirley)
Please let me know if you have found some awesome web page you think should be included here, or if you find some broken links please let me know that too. Most of my pages have an easy email link at the bottom of the page for your convenience.
I also love to travel and will share some pictures of those trips. My favorite places are the mountains, the ocean, and the desert. I have always said that you can accomplish almost anything with the right plan. I have now been to Europe and it was as great an experience as I thought. Those pictures are now up for your enjoyment.
I am fondest of the southwestern and western part of the U.S as you can see by the pictures already posted. Currently you will find pictures of the Grand Canyon, Vegas, Phoenix and Sedona Arizona, Wichita, Kansas, a part of Europe, and part of northwestern Oregon.
I hope you enjoy these pictures and the ones to come. I won't say where I am going next. You will just have to check here now and than to see. :)
My diet page is my diet journey, using a journal I kept for this purpose. I explain how I lost ten pounds a month without expensive diets or pills to buy. I include links there, pertinant to the subject matter as I do on all of my pages. My hope here is to empower you, if this is your need, to find a solution that will work for you, by showing you what worked for me.
The Therapeutic Touch page is a short story on how I became interested in this healing modality, a brief history with some pictures of Therapeutic Touch being performed.
The Original Art section is some beautiful paintings, and computer graphics by some very talented people, Sean Flynn, and Beth..aka Poohbear. Pooh wants to stay a little anonymous at this time. :)
I have spent a lot of time in Cybertown, but since they went to a pay system, I don't any longer. Cybertown, imho,(in my humble opinion) is still a unique experience. I believe you can still have a 30 day free trial, it is worth taking a peek! Cybertown! Cybertown is a virtual community complete with it's own government and economy. I have held several jobs in Cybertown from block deputy to neighborhood leader in TV, and city guide.
The most "fascinating" thing about Cybertown, to me, is the 3d environment. You can walk down the streets, using an avatar. The avatar is your visual representative in Cybertown. There are many models of avatar to chose from or you can download an avatar builder and build your own. Here are a few links of Avatars that you can use in Cybertown,avatar1and here,avatars2. The second most fascinating thing about Cybertown is the sense of privacy you can create in "rooms", you can decorate and have meetings or family chats with people from around the globe. Come visit the fair cybercity and see for yourself.
You have to immigrate to join this virtual community. You can download blaxxun contact 5.0 here to navigate in 3d. System requirements are listed on the site.
The founder of Cybertown confirms that another firm has bought controlling interest in CT from Blaxxun. You can stay updated with information from this webpage created for that purpose. Q & A on subscribtion to CT
Check out the left frame for some of the best links on the web, and click on any picture below for pages from this site. Many happy hours of surfing!!
